Matthew Ericson is an associate editor on the masthead of The New York Times, where he helps guide the development of the tools and platforms used to present the Times's journalism, working closely with teams in product and technology. Previously, he was the deputy graphics director at The Times, where he helped oversee a department of journalists, artists, cartographers and programmers who produce interactive information graphics for NYTimes.com, as well as graphics for the printed newspaper. Ericson joined The Times in 2003 as the national graphics editor; he has produced graphics on a variety of topics, including the Iraq War, three presidential elections and dozens of breaking news stories.
